Hailing from Switzerland, Rock-Out was formed 2012, but it took another six years before they dropped their debut Loud, Hard and Dirty, which was followed by 2020's Stand Together. In 2022, Rock-Out hit the mainstream when they played on Swiss National Television on a Saturday evening showcase in prime time. The band would also hit the European festival circuit playing at Summerside, Riverside, and Rock Of Ages. Now, Rock-Out returns with their third studio album, Let's Call It Rock N Roll.
The band commented on the album: This is not just an album, but describes the attitude of the band. The album is intended to show that handmade rock music still has a firm place in society. With old craftsmanship and modern sound, this work should bring together younger and older people all over the world to share their passion.
The Swiss are well-known for their classic rocks which include, among many, Gotthard, Shakra, and more internationally known Krokus. For Rock-Out, I would take Krokus and mash it up with a healthy does of AC/DC. Their sound is, essentially, twin guitar, riff-driven rock with plenty of catchy boogie and groove and significant guitar solos. Then the songs are put in a generally fast paced, yet compact, package, wherein most songs clock in between three and four minutes. The album is a quick listen which, due to their sound, swings between redundancy and repetitiveness. But that worked for AC/DC. The attached videos will give you a fine taste of Rock-Out's groove. However, my favorite cut was Dynamite, which smacks of AC/DC.
If AC/DC and Krokus had a love child from an all night, drunken, backyard kegger, the result may be Switzerland's Rock-Out, a high energy, twin guitar, riff driven, hard rock boogie band. Recommended.
