Italy's Eternal Idol returns from a four absence with a new long player Behind A Vision. Besides a spotty output over nine, the quintet has been troubled by vocalist changes. Founding member and vocalist Fabio Lione and female vocalist Claudia Layline left after 2021's covers EP, Rocking With The Idols. For the new and third album, guitarist Nick Savio (Hollow Haze), bassist Andrea Buratto (Secret Sphere, Hell In The Club), and drummer Enrico Fabris, added two young talented singers Gabriele Gozzi (Induction) and Letizia Merlo (Maze Of Heaven, Frogg).
Nick Savio offers these comments about the new album: I'm very excited to present to all of you the new Eternal Idol chapter. This new material is so fresh and melodic, with our trademark modern symphonic touch. The connection between band members and production team made something special ... The record is epic, symphonic, modern, main stream and bombastic as you've never heard before.
Personnel issues aside, Eternal Idol consistently delivers classic melodic and symphonic power metal which offers melodic and clean vocals, power metal speed wrapped in rock rhythm and groove, catchy refrains, and epic guitar solos. But this far from unusual from a band from Italy, the unofficial home of bombastic metal. In the vocal department Gozzi and Merlo compliment and complete each other. And, as usual, Nick Savio rips up the fret board with his powerful solos.
Highlighting some song favorites, it's hard beat the infectious groove of The Idol and The Enemy Is Me. The Eye Of God begins dramatically with an awesome guitar solo, then turns into a fine soaring metal ballad where the vocals are the centerpiece. Behind A Vision is a strong album and a fitting compliment to their previous work.
All in all, if you're a fan of classic and bombastic, melodic and symphonic, power metal with powerful vocals and epic guitar solos, you will enjoy Eternal Idol's latest and third album, Behind A Vision. Easily recommended.
