After a rather smashing return to the studio with 2024's Alive, Canada's own Honeymoon Suite returns with their latest and ninth album, Wake Me Up When The Sun Goes Down. That's a long album title. If you're unfamiliar with this 80's MTV sensation, you can read my introductory remarks in my review of Alive to catch up.

Honeymoon Suite

Essentially, with their roots in the Great Eighties of classic rock, today Honeymoon Suite plays straight up melodic hard rock in an AOR wrapper. If you trust the Internet, you can find references to the band back then as a glam metal. That's pretty much bullshit. The songs within the new album are generally heavier boasting big beats throughout with strong song melody, fine vocal harmony, catchy refrains, and ripping solos.

Like the previous album, Wake Me Up When The Sun Goes Down is a three minute hit factory of radio-friendly arena rockers. My favorites included Way Of The World, Unpredictable, Ever Leave You Lonely, and I Fly. Two ballads arrive with Way Too Late and Keep This Love Alive. Having gifted fans with new music in just over one year, I think we can expect for from Canada's favorite sons.

All things considered, Honeymoon Suite's Wake Me Up When The Sun Goes Down is another consistent and entertaining platter of their signature AOR-driven melodic hard rock. Easily recommended.
