Dangerdog Music Reviews receives 75 or better submissions, or requests for reviews, each month from promotion agencies, labels, and independent, unsigned artists. While we attempt to consider each request and submission, we will not guarantee that every submission will be reviewed. Generally, priority is given to labels, artitst promotion agents, and then unsigned artists.
To have a better chance for consideration, 1) please review and follow the DMR submission guidelines below, and then 2) contact Dangerdog Music Reviews with your request including your MySpace account or other place we may preview your material. Thanks!
The heavy metal and melodic hard rock genre can be difficult to define with no one artist wishing to be pigeon-holed or misrepresented. With that caveat, DMR will review albums from the following categories:
Traditional/Classic Heavy Metal
Progressive Metal
Power Metal
Symphonic/Gothic Metal
Thrash/Speed Metal
Hard Rock
Progressive Rock
Melodic Hard Rock
Album Oriented Rock (AOR)
Sleaze/Glam Metal/Rock
And some modern Metal including but not limited to: melodic metalcore, groove metal, melodic death metal, and extreme progressive metal.
Generally, DMR will NOT review nu/rap metal, grindcore, deathcore, hardcore, industrial rock or metal (or most anything which depends upon artificial and repetitive electronic sampling) or anything that promotes hatred or violence of any kind against any race, creed, or religion.
If you're wondering if you music fits, please contact us with a link to where we can preview your music.
1) Note the What We Review section above for our criteria. DMR reserves the right NOT to review a submission for any reason.
2) Demos, incomplete CDs, CDs with voiceovers, or CDRs will not be reviewed.
3) An Electronic Press Kit (EPK) will be accepted for review, if a physical copy is unavailable or shipping costs is prohibitive with our prior consent. The EPK must be the complete album with promo materials and album cover artwork.
4) Currently, unsolicited or unapproved submissions will not be reviewed, due to the volume of material received. If you want the best chance of getting your music reviewed, then email us with your request and preview MySpace or URL!
5) DMR will not review material more than 60 days old from the current month, unless by prior arrangement with a label or PR firm.
6) DMR will neither inform you of the receipt of your submission or your review post. Currently, reviews are completed within 4 weeks of submission. Please check the site for your review.
7) SUBMISSION DOES NOT GUARANTEE REVIEW. PERIOD.
