Johnny Gioeli: One Voice

Melodic Hard Rock/AOR
4.5/5.0

Brooklyn rock vocalist Johnny Gioeli is one busy cat. Only five months ago, he dropped the duet album Set The World On Fire which reunited the Hardline vocalist with old friend and former Hardline drummer Dean Castronovo. Now Gioeli returns with his very first solo album, One Voice.

With One Voice, Gioeli is not drifting the least from his roots in AOR melodic hard rock. If you enjoy any Hardline music, or the latest Gioeli-Castronovo stuff, you will find yourself snug and comfortable with this album. Essentially, Gioeli wears his musical loves on his sleeve: catchy arena rock, big rock ballads, and good old classic guitar-driven melodic hard rock.

With that said, that's what you get inside One Voice. No muss, no fuss, and no second guessing. Strong arena rockers arrive with Let Me Know, Drive, Hit Me Once Hit Ya Twice, and Out Of Here. Alternatively, catchy melodic AOR tunes come with It, Running, and Mind Melt, which balances heavy riffs with catchy groove. Ballads rise with Oh Fathers, Price We Pay, and the inspirational title cut, One Voice. Throughout Gioeli brings his strong, bit raspy, melodic voice to lead each song. In the end, Johnny Gioeli's One Voice is simply a strong and well-crafted album of AOR melodic hard rock, as would be expected from this fine vocalist. Recommended.
