Neverland: Reversing Time
Symphonic Power/Progressive Metal
Rating: 4.5/5.0

Neverland is the collaboration between Greek singer Iris Mavraki and Turkish prog/power metal act Dreamtone. This is a substantial work of symphonic, power and progressive metal. Of Ms. Mavraki, I know little, but Dreamtone has been around for quite some time. Additionally, this album brought together some significant guest talent including Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), Tom S. Englund (Evergrey), Mike Baker (Shadow Gallery) and Gary Wehrkamp (Shadow Gallery). Too say that this work has an all-star cast is to question anyone's credulity. Honestly, I was skeptical at first listen, but after a few spins I'm quite impressed.

Essentially, there is nothing new here in terms of the typical progressive or power metal genre. However, what is speculator is how well these two artists (and the guests) work together. Neverland's 'Reversing Time' displays epic and creative music. From first to last, you are nor disappointed by the strength of musicianship or the song arrangements. This is evident in such songs as 'Shooting Star,' 'To Loose The Sun, one of the best tracks on the album, Unfortunately, we have to wait until the third track, 'Mankind Is A Lie,' for a significant appearance by Ms. Mavraki: her vocals are superb and add a more than compelling experience throughout this album. Other significant songs include 'Everlasting Tranquility,' which has a majestic piano work undergirding Iris's vocals. The title track, 'Mountain of Judgment' and its sequel 'Mountain Of Joy' satisfy with their symphonic and progressive qualities.

To conclude, Neverland's 'Reserving Time' is a melodic metal fan's wish come true: fine vocals, great guitar licks, sterling arrangements, exquisite production, and simply, brilliant coherent work from all musicians involved. My only disappointment was hearing more from Mavraki. Yet, she and Dreamtone blend well together. I do not know what will evolve from this work, but I hope to hear a sophomore effort from Dreamtone and Iris Mavraki. They nailed it on "Reversing Time.' I only hope for more. Very recommended!

In Short

Neverland is the collaboration between Greek singer Iris Mavraki and Turkish prog/power metal act Dreamtone. This is polished and creative, epic and symphonic, progressive and power metal. Frankly, the future is wide open for this cooperative effort. 'Reversing Time' is a superb work.
