Kissin' Dynamite: Ecstasy

AOR Melodic Metal Rock
5.0/5.0

Somebody dropped the ball at AFM Records by letting Germany's Kissin' Dynamite go from the label. For their sixth studio album, Ecstasy, the band makes the jump to the famous American label Metal Blade Records, the pioneer of all things heavy metal since 1982. To be fair, Metal Blade does have an office in Germany. Nevertheless, it was a great snag by the label. Why not sign Kissin' Dynamite? These guys are awesome.

Kissin' Dynamite

For classic melodic heavy metal rock, Kissin' Dynamite are experts in the genre. With each album they go from strength to strength. Ecstasy is no exception. It rocks. Beginning from a strong foundation of melodic hard rock for beat and groove, Kissin' Dynamite adds the edge of heavy metal in riffs and razor sharp solos. After this they wrap everything in AOR accessibility, with hooks in catchy melodies, fine vocal harmony, and memorable refrains.

I liked everything about Ecstasy. The phrase is over used, but applicable anyway. It's all killer with no filler. Straight up arena ready rockers come with I've Got The Fire, Somebody's Gotta Do It, and the fast and infectious Superhuman. For a flair of AOR accessibility, dig the rhythm and groove of One More Time. A fine combination of vocal harmony and big rock beat are found with Waging War. Ballads come with Heart Of Stone and Still Around, both turning on acoustic guitar. The former rises with a more gentle timbre, tempered by synths, yet still delivering the required guitar solo. Still Around moves softly in the first half, but quickly rises to a bold melodic rock anthem, and again finishing with an epic solo. Honestly, Ecstasy is pure AOR melodic metal rock ear candy. Everything that you want and expect from Kissin' Dynamite. Get it. Quite recommended.
