Arjen Lucassen’s new Star One project, Victims of the Modern Age, due Oct. 26 on InsideOut

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Arjen Lucassen has firmly established himself worldwide as driving force in progressive rock. While best known for his rock opera project Ayreon, the multi-talented Dutchman also regularly embarks on musical side projects, which explore different aspects of Lucassen’s musical personality. As his previous project (Guilt Machine’s “On This Perfect Day” 2009) was a relatively relaxed and subtle affair, Lucassen’s muses responded by urging him to record something loud, heavy and anything but subtle for this new release. Thus it was a perfect opportunity to launch his musical spacecraft towards the galaxy of bombastic sci-fi rock by revisiting his Star One project. (more…)

RiotGod self-titled debut albumRiotGod, featuring members of Monster Magnet, to release self-titled debut album August 17th on Metalville Records. Initial pressing available in an exclusive digipak with two bonus tracks.

In 2007 Monster Magnet’s Bob Pantella and Jim Baglino created their own alternate universe under the RiotGod banner, inviting guitarist Garrett Sweeny and the estranged vocalist known only as Sunshine to travel the cosmos with them. Their achieved collective goal is RiotGod, their self-titled debut album containing some of the most energetic, recognizable and high quality Hard Rock this side of Mars. (more…)

Angra Guitarist Rafael Bittencourt reveals details about new album Aqua, due in October

Angra Aqua new albumBrazilian metallers ANGRA are set to release their album “AQUA” October 12, 2010 in North America on SPV/Steamhammer.  This is ANGRA’S first new album in four years, following up their 2006 release “Aurora Consurgens”  The album will be available in four formats: a limited edition digipak that includes a bonus CD featuring acareer spanning overview of the Edu Falaschi era, a standard jewel case edition, a double LP edition that includes 3 bonus tracks, and it will be available as a digital download.   (more…)
