Fans gather to remember Ronnie James Dio

LOS ANGELES — The mammoth service for fiery frontman Ronnie James Dio was more akin to a spirited rock concert than a dreary funeral. With chants of “Dio, Dio, Dio,” headbangers were loud and proud Sunday as they paid tribute to the late metal legend, who died from stomach cancer May 16 at age 67. More than 1,200 fans commemorated Dio inside Forest Lawn Memorial Park’s Hall of Liberty. Hundreds more gathered in the scorching heat outside the auditorium to watch monitors of the proceedings, which featured performances from some of Dio’s rocker friends, including Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple, Geoff Tate of Queensryche and Paul Shortino of Quiet Riot. Gallows End sets June 25 release date for debut album, Nemesis Divine

The Swedish Heavy Metal band GALLOWS END has set the worldwide release date for their upcoming debut album “Nemesis Divine” at June 25, 2010. The album will be released through Farvahar Records and distributed worldwide by Nightmare Records. The CD has been recorded, mixed and mastered at the 7th Gate Studios by Thord Klarström. All artwork is from the hand of J.P. Fournier (– also, Edguy, Avantasia, Immortal, Dragonforce, Powerquest, Steel Attack, Stormlord, among others). (more…)

Classic Rock Legends Wishbone Ash Releases, Reason To Believe, First New Single In Over 20 Years

5/24/2010 – London, UK – After 20 plus years, UK classic rock legends Wishbone Ash have released a new single, “Reason To Believe”, which is creating a huge buzz amongst the music press and fans of the band worldwide. The single is part of an EP that also features an album edit from the forthcoming CD and two superb remixes which stand out on their own. It is now available for download on iTunes. “Reason to Believe sums up what we are all about,” says founding member and band leader Andy Powell, “both in terms of the ethos of the lyric and in the melodic nature of the song, which is itself enhanced by our classic twin lead guitar sound”.
