7 Days Dead: Beyond Within EP
7 Days Dead Beyond Within EP Review

7 Days Dead: Beyond Within EP

Modern Heavy Rock/Metal
3.0/5.0

North Ireland's 7 Days Dead was formed by guitarist Mark Johnston and drummer Stephen Brown when their previous band, Interrogate, dissolved. Shortly after beginning, the recruited former Sinocence bass player Chris ‘Kaxxx’ Cassidy and vocalist Ryan McManus. Now they've cut their debut EP Beyond Within.

7 Days Dead:: feeling better.

It's probably best to characterize this short four song EP as modern, heavy, and dark rock or metal, if you wish. There's lots of big riffage, few guitar solos, a thumping rhythm section, and vocalist McManus doing his best to sound like a deeper James Hetfield. Other than these few things, Beyond Within is rather dull and uninteresting.

We all know about best intentions, and I'm sure the guys were hoping to wow us with their modern heavy rock dexterity. However, Beyond Within simply lacks luster and imagination. Let's hope for better and not more of the same in the future.
